Online Shopping Review for Lazada Philippines
I absolutely LOVE shopping online. It’s crazy good for people like me who don’t like getting out of the house much. Lazada is one of the more popular shopping websites here in the Philippines. Get to know more about my experience and review after the jump.
What is Lazada?
Lazada is an online shopping website that features items from different brands and sellers. It’s like Amazon, if you will. Lazada has country specific websites for the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
My first experience with Lazada was about a year ago when I needed to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse for our office. I didn’t have the time to go out and find one so I decided to check out Lazada. They had a good price for a Belkin setup so I decided on that one.
My Latest Purchase
This month, I purchased the following items from Lazada:
- Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic
- MYB Wood Clip with Rope 16-piece set
- MYB Wood Small Spring Notebook, Set of 4
I have been thinking about purchasing an Instax camera and the Mini 90 Neo Classic is GORGEOUS. I called up a few stores that carried this same camera and Lazada had the best price.
I loved the convenience of browsing through Stationery items on my computer. That can be a bit overwhelming in a physical store so I definitely enjoyed the experience here.
Upon checkout, I got so excited about my purchase (mostly because of the camera because it was the last one in stock!) that I accidentally confirmed a Cash on Delivery payment option! OOPS! It was 7:30PM and I wasn’t sure what to do. I decided to call the customer service but I wasn’t expecting to get an answer.
The customer service guy on the other end was very friendly. I explained to him that I made a mistake with about my payment option but wasn’t sure what to do. He calmly said that he will be cancelling my order so I can place it again. I got nervous about the camera but was reassured when I saw that the order cancellation completed about 20 minutes later. I placed my order again and was careful to get a credit card transaction this time around.
Track your shipment
Lazada displays shipment information. You can see how they are doing with the processing. My purchase was made on a Thursday night so I figured they could start processing it the next day and then I’d receive it the following week. To my surprise, they had it processed and shipped that same Friday.
About noon on Saturday, I received a call on my mobile asking if I was home so I can claim a delivery. I was so excited when the guy on the other end confirmed that he was making a delivery for Lazada!
They arrived at my house around 1PM. I had to sign 3 times on 3 pieces of paper (I don’t remember doing this the first time I bought from Lazada but it had been a while). I ran in with my package (which was labeled 2Go).
Inside the 2Go bag was a package wrapped in plastic wrap. I was happy that I did not have to deal with tape and just had to roll the wrap out. I like that the packaging was very neat and easy to open. Nothing was damaged and all items looked to be in perfect condition.
Overall, I had a great experience with Lazada and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy well, anything! Over the last year, I’ve seen Lazada add more and more products to their website. When I first encountered them, there was barely anything on the site which is why it took me a while to get to like the website. I loved the potential then and just waited patiently. I’m a regular now and look forward to my next purchase.
Product Selection: 7/10
Lazada constantly adds in new products to their website so it’s best to keep checking back. I notice though that there are a number of items that are actually out of stock. This can be disappointing once you get excited over something that isn’t actually available to buy. Some categories also have very little selection so I think they could still improve with this.
No one store has the best prices for ALL products. I usually research for higher priced items (like the Instax camera I purchased) to make sure I am getting a better deal. Weigh in the fact that they are shipping for free and you won’t need to spend anything for transportation to make your purchase.
Website Design: 5/10
I am a designer so I HAVE to talk about this. A lot of their design they borrow from other successful shopping websites. Some elements feel very familiar if you are used to browsing websites like Amazon. There’s room for improvement. I feel like I made the mistake of processing a Cash on Delivery option was because there is/are interface design flaw/s around. Overall, the website works for the most part but there is still SO much they can do with design.
Customer Service: 10/10
They were very friendly in addressing me and my problem. They were also very quick to solve my problem. I also called a second time to ask about Lazada Wishlists and they were still accommodating. I have yet to try their email support but phone support was great.
Payment Options: 10/10
I love that Lazada has a range of payment options. They even have Cash on Delivery available. I personally prefer paying with a credit card because I worry I won’t have the cash on hand when they are at my doorstep (I don’t carry cash that often).
Crazy convenient because you don’t need to leave the house to purchase items. There is that small bit of wait for the item/s to get to you but they should be getting the items to you in 5 days or less so that’s not too bad. This also beats running around the mall looking for a particular item.
Overall Score: 8/10
Lazada is the best option for shopping online in the Philippines right now because they are credible. There’s room for improvement but they have a lot of potential to grow even bigger.
What I’d like to see next
Lazada has this feature called Wishlists. I’ve been using it to keep track of items I’d like to purchase in the future. Currently, they have a broken feature that does not allow sharing wish lists with friends. I think it’s their intended purpose in the future but after talking to the customer service, it doesn’t seem to work right now. I think Lazada would be getting more business if users are allowed to share their lists so family and friends can buy off of people’s lists.
I am always looking out for new items on Lazada. I’d really like to see more items to choose from. If you’re aiming to be the biggest shopping site in SEA, you can’t have too many items. I love browsing sites like Amazon and eBay because of the massive numbers of items. I’d really like to see Lazada go in that direction.
