Fairmont Gold Makati Hotel Review

by Lindsey on January 2, 2015 · Travel

Fairmont Gold is a five star hotel within a hotel at Raffles/Fairmont Makati. The hotel is fairly new and has a great location. My fiancé and I booked an overnight stay at this hotel to celebrate our 6th anniversary and engagement together.

First Impressions

The driveway is very discreet and is hidden from outside view. You are welcome with warm smiles at the door. The lobby itself is very beautiful and smells GREAT. I had first attempted to check in at the lobby counter but I was informed that Fairmont Gold had a special reception area on the 7th floor. I had agreed to be checked in there instead.

Upon entering the Fairmont Gold lounge, I was greeted by name which I totally love. We were asked if we wanted to have some afternoon tea while they checked us in and we said yes, of course! One of the amazing privileges of staying with Fairmont Gold is access to this private business lounge that serves a buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and midnight desserts everyday.

The Room

The room itself is spacious and beautiful. The bathroom is large and very comfortable to use. I love that you can control lights, temperature and a few other things all from your bedside table. I highly recommend the pool view if you are booking at the Fairmont. We had experienced the city view during our last stay and it was really just a bunch of unfinished buildings in Makati.

Before I forget, we were also surprised with an anniversary cake from Cafe Macaron and addressed greeting cards. Very thoughtful and sweet!

The Food

The food was amazing. Afternoon tea and evening cocktails were served with a variety of canapés, bread, and pastries. We did not feel the need to fill our stomachs because of how satisfying everything was. I am definitely going back to try more.

We had also ordered in-room dining after our evening cocktails. Being half full, we ordered one serving of Kare-Kare. It was the best I have ever tasted. The staff who brought in our room service was also impressively conversational while we were signing the receipt. There was pleasant small talk about the movie that was playing on TV.

Aside from the access to a private lounge on the same floor of your room, Fairmont Gold also offers a pool and spa. We were able to spend some time in the pool. It was a Friday afternoon and was almost empty so it was nice. The water was a bit cold and we found out the smaller/kiddie pool had warmer water. I would definitely love to try the spa next time.

There are also restaurants available around the hotel but I’m big on privacy so we decided to stick to the Fairmont Gold Lounge and in-room dining.

Pricing and Value

The Fairmont Gold price tag is a bit hefty at 13,400PHP (~299USD) per night but with my BPI Gold MasterCard, I’m able to get the room at 50% off during promotional seasons. Having stayed at other hotels, despite the price tag, I find real value in Fairmont Gold. I don’t see how I can not book a Gold room the next time I’m there!

Overall Review

Checking out was a breeze just like checking in. I just waited in the lounge for them to process my request. The Fairmont Gold team was also offering me late checkout. I would have LOVED to but we had a conference to attend to that afternoon.

Overall, this is by far my best hotel experience and I am naming the Fairmont Makati my favorite hotel. This is a great hotel for those who are looking for classic luxury, privacy and a personalised experience. I can’t wait for my next visit!

If you’re looking to book this hotel, check out Agoda‘s page for the Fairmont Makati for some great deals on room rates. Agoda is my number one source for hotel bookings and I highly recommend it.
